HR GENERALIST 2


 Under the general supervision of the HR Generalist 3 and the Management Service Officer (MSO), manage the payroll and personnel functions of the Computer Science Department. Advise staff and students of personnel and payroll policies and procedures, including payroll deadlines, as well as sensitive matters that may arise in the area of human resources. Initiate hiring, benefits, promotion, reclassification, and all other actions for staff personnel, graduate student researchers, teaching apprentices, readers and general assistance using the UCPath database. Correct payroll transactions that could involve revising pay, entering retroactive payments, and direct retro into UC Path. Hire, train and supervise administrative work-study students. Assist with special projects as requested by faculty, Management Service Officer and HR Generalist 3.

Demonstrated ability to manage recruitment and hiring processes effectively.

Knowledge of compensation policies and practices; assist in writing accurate job descriptions.

Demonstrated knowledge of University human resources policies and practices, including relevant collective bargaining agreements.

Ability to effectively communicate complex information about human resources and other issues to multiple constituencies.

Skill in using database, spreadsheet, web and other applications, as well as downloaded data from Query Database (QDB).

Demonstrated ability to write effectively and concisely for multiple purposes.

Demonstrated skill in using the campus UCPATH to input all staff and academic apprentice actions correctly and in a timely manner.

Extensive knowledge of campus payroll practices and schedules.

Strong skill in Mathematical calculations for purposes of balancing all time reporting, merit, salary increases and other elements of payroll management.

Knowledge of UCLA regulations regarding Certificate of Foreign Status for Federal Withholding and Employment Eligibility Verifications.

Working knowledge of University payroll policies and payroll procedures, general ledger system and ability to process the forms required to accomplish various transactions.
