The Product Manager Role

Quartz Network Product Managers are leaders that love bringing new products to life. They are self-starters and are comfortable creating plans to drive key areas of our platform forward from the earliest stages. Product Managers lead small-medium-sized teams of researchers and designers and effectively communicate strategy and progress inside the organization. Product Managers have a holistic understanding of product life cycles and a passion for managing a product from strategy through delivery.

An optimal candidate has experience infusing UX principles into their day to day activity, utilizing a deep understanding of the user to drive effective product strategy and great design. With a UX mindset, they are able to align everyone working on the product with the customer’s viewpoint, and provide an optimal user experience in ways that also serve the business.

What you’ll do

  • Develop innovative, industry-leading features and products that uniquely serve our users and customers
  • Continually strive to understand our customers and their needs
  • Identify opportunities and scope/research them to build a perspective on what we should be building.
  • Drive the strategy, tactics, and delivery timelines for your product area
  • Influence key stakeholders throughout your product line and the company overall to align resources and prioritization
  • Build, prioritize, and manage product roadmap in alignment with goals set by leadership
  • Collaborate and drive alignment across executive, design and engineering teams
  • Incorporate feedback and input from customers, users, partners and in-house teams to inform product strategy
  • Work closely with UI / UX designers and a tech team lead to bring new features to life
  • Write complete & detail-oriented product requirements and user flows
  • Own communication around recent launches, key product and business metrics, changes to roadmap priorities, and critical escalations
  • Be proactive in identifying issues that might impact the customer
  • Forecast, monitor and report on overall team progress
  • Develop and monitor success metrics and quantify improvements

Who you are

  • Experienced: At least 3 years of experience in Product Management, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent real-world experience
  • A master of the last mile: you grind it out, do whatever is necessary to ship, and don’t lose steam after a project gets approved and underway.
  • A prioritization wizard: You know how to sequence projects, balancing quick wins with platform investments
  • UX-minded: you have an understanding of UX principles and how they are applicable to your team’s research, iterative testing, and success measures
  • A communicator: Great at leading collaboration between UI, UX, and technical team members to generate effective solutions to complex problems
  • An influencer: You can build a case that is impossible to refute or ignore in the service of creating alignment across teams and stakeholders
  • Adaptable: The only constant is change, and that doesn’t scare you. You can operate flexibly in a fast-paced environment

A bonus if

  • You have an understanding of technical schemas
  • Have an understanding of APIs and how they currently work and/or may need to function
  • You live in the Los Angeles area
