YOUR JOB IS MORE THAN A JOB
The Transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing all medical notes. Encounters, orders, maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA laws. Ensures the safety and well-being of patient's undergoing various procedures within the hospital.
Your Everyday
- Ensures that all dictated reports are received from the transcription company/voice dictation.
- Types reports as needed for the department. Copies, distributes and charts all typed reports in a timely manner.
- Performs quality checks on transcribed reports and edits reports as needed.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of medical terminology and stays current with updates.
- Monitors documents to ensure information on reports is accurate and that the proper physician is indicated on the reports.
- Ensures that the appropriate physician receives the report results.
- Ensures that the necessary documentation is sent to medical records for coding and billing.
- Reproduces documents as needed for radiologist, physician offices and other departments.
- Complies with medical-legal policies and procedures by seeking clarification, recognizing and reporting problems, errors and discrepancies.
- Complies with confidentiality and HIPPA regulations.
The Must-Haves
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a hospital, clinic or private physician office.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be an accurate typist (70-80+ wpm).
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology - Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to transcribe specialty dictations in an acute care facility.
