Tour Hosts offer actively engaged, historically accurate and entertaining commentary while escorting walking tour groups along the pathways of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. Tour Hosts combine presentation showman skills with historical knowledge while sharing the beauty and charm of the citys oldest extant cemetery. In addition to the tour narrative, Tour Hosts manage tour safety and timing protocols and engage visitors by answering questions while moving the group along the route with friendly demeanor.
As Ambassadors of the New Orleans Catholic Cemeteries and the City of New Orleans, Tour Hosts exude pride in their city and reverence for St. Louis Cemetery #1. Personal comments and perspectives that are derogatory, sarcastic or critical of New Orleans or the Catholic Church are strictly prohibited.

Skills and Knowledge:
- Possesses an expansive knowledge of the history of New Orleans and of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.
- Enjoys engaging visitors, answering questions, and offering travel advice.
- Familiarity with attractions in close proximity to Basin St. Station and the Cemetery.
- Demonstrates patience, tolerance, and sensitivity to guests and colleagues.
- Exceptional verbal communication, listening, and presentation skills to handle customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Standing, walking, climbing stairs in exterior and interior spaces for extended periods of time.
Duties:
- Delivering the outlined tour narrative in an energetic, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
- Presenting accurate statistics and dates through interesting, fun, and engaging stories.
- Adding tasteful and appropriate personal anecdotes and enhancements to the tour narrative.
- Providing tour and general visitor information in an efficient manner.
- Managing guest requests and complaints with appropriate response.
- Soliciting customer feedback to improve customer experience.
- Following all daily operational protocols in a professional manner.
- Working cooperatively with colleagues for safe, convenient and enjoyable tours.
Qualifications:
- Knows and loves everything about New Orleans and St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.
- Has a Tour Guide Permit issued by the City of New Orleans.
- High School education or higher.
