The mission of the Missouri College Advising Corps (MCAC) is to empower Missouri students to go to college and succeed. MCAC recruits, intensively trains, and places recent college graduates as full-time, near-peer college (and career) advisers in partner high schools across the state with high percentages of students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds. Placements are available in the Kansas City, Saint Louis, Springfield, South Central, and Bootheel regions. MCAC is an AmeriCorps program and advisers are eligible for AmeriCorps benefits including a monthly living stipend, healthcare and childcare coverage, loan forbearance and interest accrual repayment, an education award upon successful completion of a term of service, and ongoing personal and professional development. MCAC covers lodging, meals, and eligible travel expenses for training events. MCAC requires a one-year service commitment (July-June) and advisers may serve up to 2 years (or, in special circumstances, 3 years) with the program.
