The mission of the City of Boston Property Management Department (PMD) is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.

- Plans work methods and procedures, assigns and reviews the work of a group of employees performing related or specialized duties.
- Supervises the maintenance of records of department expenditures.
- Retrieves and gathers information from the files and related computerized information systems as needed.
- Processes correspondence, forms, and memos regarding departmental and interdepartmental matters.
- Maintains attendance, overtime, detail fund, and memoranda of agreement (MOAs) for department programs.
- Four (4) years full-time, or equivalent part-time experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
- Proficient in PeopleSoft, spreadsheets, and general Microsoft Office Programs.
- Considerable knowledge of office and departmental practices and procedures of business, English, spelling and arithmetic, and of basic bookkeeping.
- Working ability to instruct, supervise, assign and review·work and to prepare reports and statistics, to compose correspondence, to communicate effectively with the public employees and public officials, to plan and organize clerical functions, to maintain written instructions, and to accurately record information.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail is required by the position.
